Chilean economy is recovering

According to the Minister of Finance, Andrés Velasco, our economy in comparison to previous semesters has stabilized and the downfall was not as abrupt as the ones seen in earlier periods.

The results revealed this morning by tne Central Bank show that the GDP has lowered in a 4.5% this trimester. Still Velasco's answer was that this result is a"suggestion that this trimester should show a recovery in relation to the previous one". According to him the decrease shown this last trimester clearly is lower than the ones registered in prior ocations.

He mentioned that there were some key events happening in order to reactivate chilean economy: a $4 billion fisical stimulus plan, a raise in the copper's price, newer employement programmes, among others.

Velasco also suggested exploring and using the advantages brought to our economy by the Free Trade Agreements, making a special remark to be careful with protectionist meassures and specially with financial protectionism.

The Minister was optimist about the results which show that the national economy is recovering, but also made an important call to work with the advantages of the economic agreements with other nations in order to reactivate our external economy too.
